After completing six years commissioned service in the Armed Forces, Nick completed a year’s management training with Union International PLC. During this management training programme Nick began his training as a management accountant as well as completing attachments to the Group Systems and Treasury Departments.

In 1988, Nick was appointed as financial controller of Contract Flooring Services, a newly acquired subsidiary of Hewetson Plc, where he was responsible for the successful installation of a fully integrated MIS and integrating the subsidiary’s financial reporting and control systems with those of the parent company.

In 1992, Nick was appointed as General Manager and, subsequently, as MD of Contract Flooring Sales, where he also undertook the role of FD. In 1998, Nick was invited to join the board of directors of Landsdon Ltd after its acquisition of  CFS, with the specific brief of integrating the subsidiary’s operations with those of its sister businesses. Subsequently Nick led an MBO of a division of Landsdon, which was later sold to its largest overseas supplier.

Nick’s experience is largely of working in the SME sector. His particular strengths at FD Solutions are in business process re-engineering, cost reduction, systems implementation and the management and finance of working capital.
