Ian Parlane MA, ACA, Associate Director -

A language graduate who qualified with Touche Ross and spent time in their Paris office, Ian later became a partner of Parlane Purkis & Co.

In 1997 he was appointed Financial Controller of a distributor of fire prevention products. In addition to the usual finance duties, Ian set up and managed the ISO9002 quality control system and acted as Deputy Managing Director.

• Ian joined FD Solutions in 2002, and was promoted to Associate Director in 2006
• Assisted two arts-based organisation in producing detailed business plans and succeeding in gaining Arts Council recovery fundraising;
• Successful turnaround of a leading training and travel company, including upgrading of their financial systems to support their growth;
• Assisted a client in purchasing a subsidiary in Sweden. Set up on-line accounting systems so that they can manage the business from the UK;
• Produced a detailed financial plan for a major entertainment venue, allowing them to gain the necessary funding;
• Stepped in at short notice to manage the finances of charity client following the sudden departure of their full-time FD.

On an ongoing basis:

• Ian acts as part-time Finance Director for a range of businesses, doing those things that a full-time Finance Director would do if they had one.
• This includes, typically, overseeing the accounts department, forecasting, attending board meetings and generally ensuring the financial well-being of each client’s business.
